Come and join us on Sunday 9 July for our annual garden party at Cirencester Park, by kind permission of The Earl and Countess Bathurst (from 2pm - 5pm).

You will enjoy afternoon tea to the sounds of a live band and in the delightful surroundings of the gardens at Cirencester Park. Relax in the knowledge that your donation is helping to fund vital research to treat eye disease, sight loss and blindness.

We are very excited that Professor Sir Peng Tee Khaw, one of the world's most inspiring ophthalmological speakers, has kindly agreed to deliver the inaugural lecture "Translating Laboratory Discovery to Life Changing Treatments"

RAF Concert

On Tuesday 17 November we are inviting you to join us for a concert by the Central Band of the RAF to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain at Colston Hall, Bristol. To make your evening even more special you can, if you wish, have supper beforehand at the delightful Hotel du Vin.

Tickets are priced at £60 each with supper (includes a £15 donation) or £35 each without supper (includes a £10 donation)

Sam Gaussen Memorial Lecture

Unfortunately we had to cancel this event. We hope to rearrange it at a later date. Please return to this site for further updates.

The keynote speech was due to be delivered by the inspirational ophthalmologist, Professor Sir Peng Tee Khaw with a guest appearance by National Eye Research Centre's Ambassador and Paralympic medal winner, Jade Etherington. We look forward to welcoming them at the rescheduled event.

Leeds Half Marathon

Please support our wonderful Leeds team who are running in the Leeds Half Marathon on 11 May 2014. They describe themselves as a team of runners most of whom would now make the "veteran" category, not as fit as they'd like to be but all keen to support eye research. They'd really appreciate any help you can give, which will go towards improving our understanding of the causes of blindness and developing better treatments for eye conditions.

Yorkshire Three Peaks Fell Race

Alison Weston, an optometrist at St James's University Hospital in Leed, is participating in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Fell Race this Saturday (26 April) in support of National Eye Research Centre

Here's what she had to say about it:

I am hoping to complete my 15th Yorkshire 3 Peaks Fell Race on 26/04/2014. This 23 mile endurance event has given me a lot of pleasure (and also a lot of pain!) over the years and although it is very short notice I am trying to raise some money for National Eye Research Centre to mark this event and I would really appreciate your support.
