2016 Major Grant Awards

The trustees are pleased to have approved four major grant awards, totaling £239,671 in their 2016 grant giving round. The successful applications awarded funding in 2016 are as follows:


1) Prof Andrew Dick – University of Bristol

Transcriptional plasticity of microglia during intraocular inflammation

2) Prof Jeremy Guggenheim – University of Cardiff

Gene-environment and gene-gene interactions in myopia

£59,823 (PhD Studentship) – 3 years


3) Dr Reinhold Medina – Queen’s University Belfast

Premature vascular senescence during diabetic retinopathy

£60,000 (PhD Studentship) – 3 years


4) Prof Roy Quinlan – University of Durham

Sterol mediated reversal of lens optification

£60,000 (PhD Studentship) – 3 years
